“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

Fear often grows loudest right before we step into something new.

As you walk through life's unexpected seasons, God may begin nudging you toward unfamiliar territory; a new opportunity, a dream you've put on hold, a conversation, a fresh start, or a step of faith that stretches you beyond your comfort zone.

If we’re honest, it may feel intimidating.

That’s exactly how Joshua must have felt.

In Joshua 1, Moses had died, and Joshua was suddenly responsible for leading God’s people into the Promised Land. Before they crossed the Jordan River, God repeatedly reminded Joshua to be strong and courageous, not because Joshua felt fearless, but because God promised to be with him wherever he went.

The same is true for you.

Courage doesn’t mean you never feel afraid. It means you choose to move forward, trusting God even while uncertainty exists.

Many times, God doesn’t reveal the entire plan upfront. He simply asks us to take the next step in faith, and often, clarity comes after obedience.

Don’t give fear, insecurity, or overthinking permission to keep you stuck in a place God is calling you out of.

You will not walk into this next season alone.

God has already equipped you with His Spirit, and He will strengthen you for whatever lies ahead.

All He’s asking for today is your willingness to take the first step.

Reflection:

Is fear keeping you from moving forward in an area of your life? Ask God to show you one step you can take today, then trust Him enough to take it.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being my source of courage and strength. When fear and uncertainty try to overwhelm me, remind me that You are with me wherever I go.

Help me not to stay stuck in hesitation or doubt. Give me the faith to move forward, even when I cannot see the full picture yet.

Guide my steps and help me trust You one day at a time. I surrender my plans to You and ask You to lead me into all that You have prepared for my life.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
