You can host a training at your church with our free resources.

The Care, Prayer, and Share course is the heart of The Church Cares initiative—it’s where vision becomes action.
Here’s a clear, practical breakdown of how it works:

Churches start by gathering a group of people—often volunteers, small group leaders, or anyone with a heart to care. Over six sessions, participants engage with:

  • Video teaching from trusted voices

  • Real-life roleplays and examples

  • Guided discussion questions

  • Prayer and reflection exercises

The content is simple, biblical, and trauma-informed. It trains everyday believers in how to:

  • Listen well

  • Pray with compassion

  • Walk alongside hurting people

  • Know when (and how) to refer for more help

This welcome video introduces the heart behind The Church Cares ministry and prepares new Carers for their orientation journey.

Next: Consider 7 Cups

7 Cups is a secure, online platform that connects people to trained lay listeners—

real people who are there to listen, care, and walk with others through life’s struggles.

When your church joins The Church Cares:

  • Each church gets a unique code that members or visitors can use to access care tied to your local church community.

  • They enter the code on your church’s 7 Cups page, where they’ll see your trained lay listeners—members of your church who’ve completed the Church Cares training.

  • Conversations happen online, privately and confidentially through secure messaging. Listeners provide encouragement, prayer, and presence—not advice or therapy.

  • People can also join moderated group chats and forums, offering connection and support 24/7.

  • This creates a safe space for people to open up, especially those who may not be ready to walk through the church doors just yet.

It’s like having a digital front porch where care begins—and many take their first step back toward community and Christ.
